Business Development Manager

  • You have a strong personal network relevant to Resonate’s work with women and girls in the NGO sector. It will help you to hit the accelerator pedal early!
  • You have strong organizational skills, can manage multiple things at once, and can constantly prioritize and re-prioritize. You keep detailed notes about even the small things (like birthdays, special occasions, clients’ likes and dislikes)
  • You are extremely targets driven. From the first week, you will set targets for each week, month, and quarter and make adjustments in your tactics to ensure that you hit your goals.
  • You are naturally adaptable and collaborative, and work well in a fast-moving startup environment.

About the Position

The new business development staff member will have four primary responsibilities:

1. Market Research

2. Signing new contracts

3. Managing and growing pipeline of clients

4. Representing Resonate externally and building our brand recognition throughout NGO communities in Rwanda and East Africa

Roles and Responsibilities:

Market Research (15%)

  • Clearly define and building out a projected pipeline of target clients
  • Facilitate connections with key stakeholders with relevant members of Resonate’s team
  • Refine Resonate’s value proposition for different customer segments, and identify the messaging and collateral needed for each segment

Lead Generation (25%)

  • Increase the pipeline of sales qualified leads
  • Identify and attend relevant conferences, meetings, and industry events to raise Resonate’s profile
  • Secure places for Resonate staff to speak at conferences and industry events
  • Lead event management and planning to promote our brand and increase inbound sales leads

Sales and Account Management (60%)

  • Managing sales process from lead generation, through to creating customer advocates
  • Improve and standardize sales tactics and process to increase conversion rates
  • Manage contract budgets and proposals
  • Train team members to develop sales skills
  • Manage clients record in our database

Required Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience as a salesperson, fundraiser or business developer
  • Connections with potential clients
  • Demonstrable experience in project management
  • Fluent in Kinyarwanda and English
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Skilled with computers, preferably with experience in a database or CRM (we use Salesforce)
  • (Preferred) Driving license
